£100 million is due to be invested at the Elean Business Park in Sutton. Lasercharm plans to build a high-tech 650,000 sq ft data centre taking advantage of Sutton’s position as one of the country’s main hubs for fibre optics. The philosophy behind the Elean Data Campus is to provide world-class data centre facilities in a discrete rural setting, using energy efficient techniques to deliver low running costs. The six data centre buildings will be powered from multiple redundant sources, principally from the adjacent 38 MW straw burning combined heat and power plant, delivering demonstrable energy conservation. The plant will only use 100% carbon neutral waste as a power source, reducing its environmental impact and further establishing its sustainability credentials. The absorption chillers operate through a simple heat exchange process using super heated lithium bromide, energised using the off-take heat from the power station, which consumes almost no new energy. Winner of the ‘Future Thinking and Design Concepts’ Award 2008 Power saving leading to estimated reduced costs by at least £8.5 million per annum compared to a similar standard data centre (CoCol Ltd) For more information please contact: Christopher Jones Tel: 0207 9112525 Email: chris.jones@gvaconnect.com Website: www.eleandata.com
